The City of Vernon will soon distribute the 2022 property tax notices.
The city will mail the notices on May 26 and taxes are due by 4:30 p.m. on July 4.
In addition to the payment, owners will be required to submit a completed Owner’s Grant by July 4, if applicable.
We remind homeowners that the provincial homeowner grant program changed last year and all applications must be submitted online or by phone through the province.
The BC Home Owner Grant reduces the amount of property tax homeowners pay for their principal residence. As of May 2021, property owners must apply directly to the province rather than through their municipal office.
Although the grant application process has changed, program details and eligibility requirements have not. Homeowner grants must be applied for annually, even if your mortgage company or bank pays your taxes. There is no need to make a tax payment for eligible homeowners to qualify for the Homeownership Grant.

To help property owners avoid potentially long lines to pay their taxes, there are several ways to make a payment without having to go to the town hall cashier:
- Online through your financial institution;
- By check by mail;
- By using the 24-hour drop box at the main entrance of City Hall.
Postmarks on mailed installments will not be considered the date of payment.
