Singapore property market set to beat neighbors in Covid recovery
Singapore’s property market is expected to rebound from the pandemic faster than any other region in Southeast Asia. “Long regarded as a safe haven, properties in Singapore have remained pandemic resilient with prices up 13% on average over the past two years to outperform the rest of the region,” said Christine Li, head of research for Asia-Pacific at Knight. Famous tattoo artist Kat Von D has put her three-story Gothic mansion in Los Angeles, complete with a blood-red pool, up for sale for $15 million. The Victorian spread was built in 1896 and moved to its current location in historic Windsor Square in 1915. The 12,500 square foot home features turrets, chandeliers, ornate fireplaces and stained glass windows. There are also 11 bedrooms, a library, a theater and a two-bedroom coachhouse. House prices in Australia have started the year at a slower pace than in 2021
Home values across Australia rose 1.1% in January after ending last year in a slump. On a yearly basis, home prices jumped 22.4%, the highest annual growth rate since 1989, leaving the country’s typical home about A$130,000 (US$92,447) more expensive than it only was in early 2021, according to data from CoreLogic. Brisbane was the city with the highest monthly house price increases in January, rising 2.5% to A$809,813. “Early indications are that housing markets are starting 2022 with a similar trend to what we saw at the end of last year.
