Property tax notice on Vernon Road

The City of Vernon would like to inform the population that The 2022 property tax notices will be mailed on Thursday, May 26and taxes are due by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022.

In addition to the payment, owners will be required to submit a completed Owner’s Grant by July 4, if applicable. We remind homeowners that the Provincial Home Owner Grant program changed last year and all applications must be submitted online or by phone through the Province of British Columbia.

The BC Home Owner Grant reduces the amount of property tax you pay on your principal residence. As of May 2021, property owners must apply directly to the province rather than through their municipal office.

Although the grant application process has changed, program details and eligibility requirements have not. Homeowner grants must be applied every year, even if your mortgage company or bank pays your taxes. There is no need to make a tax payment for eligible homeowners to apply for the Homeowner Grant.

For more information on the Provincial Homeowner Grant application process, visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or call 1-888-355-2700 to speak with a live agent.

To help property owners avoid waiting in a potentially long line to pay their taxes, there are several ways to make a payment without having to go to the cashier at City Hall:

  • Online through your financial institution;
  • By check by mail; or
  • By using the 24 hour drop box at the main entrance of City Hall.

Please note that postmarks on mailed installments will not be considered the date of payment.
