Tonino Lamborghini makes another push in Dubai’s real estate market – this time he plans to make it a success

Tonino Lamborghini wants to bring an Italian touch to the Dubai real estate market. And he also wants to build a museum.

Dubai: Tonino Lamborghini will not deny himself.

If his first attempt at creating “Lamborghini” branded residences in Dubai was unsuccessful, this time around, he wants everything to be done right. Tonino’s plan is to find the right investor-partner to build a residential project in Dubai, a niche hotel project in Abu Dhabi, and if all goes well, a museum that will be named after his legendary father, Ferruccio, who launched the Lamborghini automobile brand. (The Italian supercar maker is now part of the German group Volkswagen.)

“My first attempt in Dubai was in 2018 with a Chinese developer, but it didn’t go as planned and the project was scrapped,” said Tonino, who is in Dubai to explore new possibilities for joint development. “This time I’m talking to some interested parties about creating something that bears the full Lamborghini seal.

“For my part, I plan to invest up to $ 500 million to make this work and I am in close contact with famous architect Shaun Killa to bring the best of the concepts. (Shaun Killa was the creative mind behind the Museum of the Future.)

Keep a distance

Tonino is keeping his distance from the auto company that launched his surname to stellar heights. That, however, doesn’t mean that it has nothing to do with the concept of rides. He has a business that manufactures electric cars for city rides as well as electric scooters.

Real estate is what fascinates Tonino, and what he shaped in Italy. There is also the manufacture of furniture and other lines that stick to the real estate aspect of its activity. “I am here to try to introduce a new concept of residential or commercial real estate, which pays a lot of attention to green,” he said. “Of course, there are lots and lots of buildings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that are conceptually nice, but don’t have green spaces. “In Italy we have vertical gardens and this market is ready for more of these kinds of concepts.”

Another kind of museum

He might keep an eye out for residential or hotel projects, but Tonino won’t be dissuaded from pursuing the museum’s ambitions. “It doesn’t have to be about art – the way I see it, the museum should be futuristic,” he added. “The way I envision it, the museum will be dedicated to holographic events, a big venue that could host virtual fashion shows, concerts and anything of that nature.”

Such a museum has already opened in Italy, also bearing the name of the father. For Tonino, it is much more than paying homage to the patriarch.

“I believe in this country – I see the holographic museum as a project for the future,” said Tonino. “I want to participate in this development. I realize that you cannot do everything alone in real estate, especially in another country. The right idea, however, can do the job for us.

That and a willingness to put $ 500 million on the table should do it for Tonino Lamborghini.
